AWIB Christmas Party .. a cracking start to the festive season!

A wonderful turnout for our Christmas party last night! There were furs, glitter, diamanté, lights and even wedding dresses as local business women turned out in force to celebrate in their finery.

trudyWith a Snow Queen theme, the Oak Room at The White Hart Hotel Andover was filled with twinkling lights, Ice maidens, snowy queens, Elsa’s and even a Snow White. Hands down winner of the Best Dressed was Trudy Slade of Trudy’s Gluten Free, in a stunning silver outfit covered in lights. In second place, Larna Burley of Burley’s Brides in a stunning white creation and beautifully crafted crown, with third place going to Emma Wilders-Pratt of Trethowans in a fabulous  Frozen  Elsa ensemble.

A lot of fun was had with a variation on Bingo that required everyone to question their fellow guests, a mind stretching quiz from our Queen of Quizzes, Rosie Andersen and some hilarious heads or tales elimination rounds. Members had generously donated prizes. Fiona Mobbs, Your Personal Poet, recited a wonderful Christmas poem created specially for us, Sue Risdale of Andovertable5 Nails recited The Night before Christmas, a tradition being carried on in memory of Brenda Locke who passed away this year.  Carrying on another tradition, Rosie gave us her rendition of Pinderella and the Cince, funny as ever!

larnaWe were treated to a very funny mini panto of the Snow Queen story … with an AWIB twist which had us – well at least me – in hysterics. Well done Helen Buick, Sue Risdale, Sharon Colpman and Debbie King. They were so entesue1rtaining and very brave to face such a huge crowd!

The White Hart provided a great, varied menu and a beautifully decorated room. Their food was hot, delicious and plentiful… and as for the Chocolate Gateau……mmmmmmmmmmmm! Thanks to Mark and his team for helping to make our party a success.

Our next event is the Christmas Fayre, again at the very accommodating White Hart, on the 9th December. Please come along and browse the wonderful and varied goodies our members provide. Doors open at 7pm, entrance fee of £2 goes to the Mayor of Test valley’s Charity Appeal and enters you into a draw for some lovely prizes donated by our members.
