Kate once again took the floor and introduced the guest speaker

Pauline Culley, Director of Human Resources at Cricklade College, Andover was invited to inform the members of the important but thorny topic of Employment Law.

Employment Law is a subject close to many members’ hearts. Pauline introduced herself with a brief personal history and tackled topics such as contracts of employment, what is legally protected, discrimination, dismissal, redundancy, disciplinary and grievance procedures, data protection and personal privacy among others.

Pauline also touched very briefly on the subject of Health & Safety and injected humour throughout the presentation by sharing some of the more extreme anecdotes from her past role in the world of banking.

The discussion was lively and interactive, with members asking Pauline questions during and after the presentation and sharing their own experiences and asking advice.

Once again the meeting was extremely well attended with members and guests wishing each other a prosperous New Year and discussing their plans for the future.
