December 2005 - Christmas Party
A Dickensian theme was order of the day for Andover Women in Business Club’s Christmas meeting, with members dressed as their favourite story characters, from Great Expectations’, Miss Havisham to A Christmas Carol’s, Ghost of Christmas Present! The meeting was held at The Red Lion Country Inn, Clanville.
Traditionally more of a party for the December meeting, the evening began with festive drinks and the opportunity to buy home-made Christmas puddings and take part in the raffle. A Dickensian Quiz, compiled by Brenda Locke, the Club’s Secretary, kept members and guests busy during courses and resulted in joint winners each taking home a prize!
A large collection of prizes were generously donated by members, with the raffle and donations raising £130 for local disability charity, Enham, the Club’s chosen charity for 2005/06.
Following a delicious traditional Christmas meal, members were delighted to have surprise entertainment from Chester House Productions. Husband and wife team, Vera Hughes (a long term AWIBC member) and David Weller, took the stage in full Victorian costume and brought to life many of the well-known Dickens stories.
The evening was enjoyed by all concerned and gave members the opportunity to wish their colleagues the compliments of the Season.
