April 2002 Meeting - Eyes and Teeth

No, not a medical examination, but what Sheridan Easton, Chief Executive of ValleyVera Hughes and Sheridan Easton Leisure Ltd, looks for in anyone wanting to work in the leisure industry - eyes which sparkle and teeth which smile. 'Inspirational' and 'I didn't realise there was so much to it' were two of the comments overheard after Sheridan's dynamic presentation to Andover Women in Business Club members at it April Networking meeting, fittingly enough at Christies in Andover Leisure Centre.

Valley Leisure, a 'not for profit', award-winning, organisation with a £3.5M annual turnover, manages Andover Leisure Centre, Lakeside Pavilion in Charlton, The Rapids in Romsey, The Knightwood Leisure Centre near Winchester and a facility in Romsey Community School.

Without the right people to manage and run the enterprise no amount of management planning and implementation will work. Sheridan drove home the point again and again: develop people, give them responsibility, listen to them and motivate them, which Sheridan does very effectively. Speed, energy, determination, stubbornness, vision, targets - all these could be applied to a fitness regime, and they certainly apply to this most motivational of men.

Sheridan has the vision, and energy, to make these things happen and was undoubtedly an inspiration to all those hearing his talk.
