April 2010 - Peter Czap of The WOW Company

Members and guests of Andover Women In Business Club had an enjoyable and informative April meeting. Peter Czap, Director of The WOW Company (an Accountancy practice, with a difference), was our speaker for the evening.

Peter began his talk by reminding us that the change in the economy over the last few years has made it essential for businesses to get into good habits when ‘managing their cash.’ Peter made several recommendations including having a written credit control procedure and measuring the credit worthiness of clients. Another very important area to look at is the payment term on your invoice. Ideally these should be as short as possible (eg 7 days or payment by return) or preferably payment in advance.

The WOW Company and Business Link jointly conducted research into what the really successful companies are doing right now. Unfortunately time didn’t allow Peter to discuss all 77 items so members were invited to choose a few numbers at random. Planning, Adapting your product and services for today and Time management were among the topics. Peter then expanded on each item and gave us lots of new and useful ideas. No 77 on the list was ‘Get on and do it’. Peter certainly left us thinking and inspired to do just that.

Our next meeting is on May 4th at the Bourne Valley Inn when Claire Muir presents ‘A Fascinating Journey’. For more information contact Caroline Gilham (President) on 01264 710475.
