January 2010 - Chillies “Informal” evening
Eighteen of us braved the dreadful weather for a hot and spicy dinner at Chillies and well worth facing the treacherous roads and slippery paths it was! I have to admire some of the ladies who walked a fair old way to get there in very unpleasant conditions.
Having never had the pleasure of dining at Chillies before, I was delighted to discover a great curry house in our town. The food was delicious, service attentive and conversation flowed. The club very generously footed the drinks bill which was an added bonus. A very relaxed and laid back affair, despite having just got through the binge eating fest that is Christmas, we all seemed ready to face a good old curry night. Delivering so many different dishes at once always presents difficulties but we were soon presented with our fragrant choices, wafting their enticing scent over us.
Due to the informality of the evening, we cosily chatted amongst ourselves; an ideal opportunity to catch up on what we had done over the festive season. Anoushka’s bump has grown considerably since our last meeting and she is definitely blooming in pregnancy!
Several guests managed to join us and had the opportunity to chat to members about their work and the club.
As always, a well organised event for which we can thank our earnest committee and we look forward to the next meeting where Annette will be our speaker on pension issues.
