December 2009 - "Pretty in Pink" Christmas Party

Andover Women in Business Club enjoyed a delightful, Pink-themed evening at the Red Lion in Clanville, celebrating the 2009 Christmas Party.

Nearly 40 Members and Guests arrived looking absolutely gorgeous. The ladies, beautifully dressed and accessorized wore - Salmon pink, hot pink, Baby pink, Fuchsia pink, Bubblegum pink, Rose pink. In fact almost every shade and hue of pink was represented, creating a prettily glowing, warm and cheerful scene. Pink tinsel sparkled and Pink feathers gently swished as the ladies moved about the room.

Caroline Gilham, President welcomed everyone, and went on to congratulate Hannah Walker of First Impressions Florist on the birth of Baby Ralph. Caroline also announced that Denize Goodhall was selling her popular Charity Christmas Puddings. She also congratulated me on being ‘21’ again. Someone always lets the cat out of the bag!

After a delicious meal the Members and Guests enjoyed some inspired party games such as Pass the Parcel. But, in this version the parcels travelled in two directions depending on a story, which cleverly incorporated the names and businesses of AWIBC members. If mentioned, you had to quickly stand up and this proved to be an informative but pleasantly hilarious way of helping us all put more ‘names to faces’. In the next game we had to match the current committee member photos, to their correct childhood picture, and then attempt to match them with siblings and parents. The committee, who were sporting Cerise pink Santa hats, found it most amusing to see everyone’s attempts to complete this difficult task.

Every member and guest was given a “Breakthrough Breast Cancer” brooch and a “Pink” Raffle raised over £200 for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity. A Pink Quiz was also enthusiastically supported for which the prizes for the winning team were some Pink Turkish Delight!

Caroline closed the meeting thanking the members and their guests, reminding us that the next meeting will be an informal one, to be held at The Chillies restaurant, in Andover on Tuesday 5th January 2010. See you there!

Sue Risdale.
