July 2009 - Data Protection
This month the Andover Women in Business met at the Hampshire Golf Club for a presentation delivered by Darren Crannis of Networking Fundamentals.
The security of client personal data is a matter of law and has been very topical over recent months, especially with identity fraud becoming increasingly common. Having politely reminded the group that loss of data is an offence punishable by law, Darren provided the group with useful advice and top tips on how to keep both personal and client data secure.
The meeting covered all aspects from physically keeping laptops and other hardware safe, password security and secure wireless connections right through to how to back up and recover data in the event of computer failure. Darren presented the information from compliance and commercial perspective, reiterating that storing customer data securely is not only a matter of law but makes good business sense.
The meeting was also attended by Stella Saunders of Glorious Hats who brought an array of superb hats in anticipation of the ladies trip to Ladies Day at Newbury Races next month.
The next meeting is the President’s Party which will be held at the Hawk Conservancy on 2nd August. Members and guests are welcome and the deadline for securing a place is 26th July. Please contact Annette Hender on 01264 316128
