June 2009 - The Suzy Lamplugh Trust
Recent months have seen the Andover Women in Business Club grow considerably and their June meeting at the Bourne Valley Inn was a lively gathering of over 40 ladies from a diverse mix of businesses.
The club was delighted to invite local working women to join them for a presentation by Pat Neale from The Suzy Lamplugh Trust. Following Suzy’s disappearance whilst working as an estate agent in 1986, her parents set up the trust with the mission to raise awareness of the importance of personal safety.
Caroline Gilham, President of the club said ‘personal safety was an issue high up on the agenda for our members and we were privileged to be presented to by a leading organisation in this field’.
Pat Neale delivered an interesting presentation, provoking the local business women to consider when they are individually vulnerable the steps that can be taken to improve personal safety. Much of what personal safety boils down to is common sense, however, it is making it part of a daily routine which is the challenge. In Pat’s words, ‘common sense, common practice’.
Local business women are invited to join the Andover Women in Business for their next meeting on 7th July where they will be considering the implications of storing personal data and the data protection act.
