President's Charity

It has become a tradition for the Club’s President to name a charity to benefit from any fundraising initiatives undertaken by the Club. Fundraising is incidental to the work of Andover Women in Business Club, but as opportunities occur during the year, some fundraising is carried out. Currently benefiting from funds raised is local disability charity, Enham, where President, Tessa Makepeace is Grant Fundraising & Volunteer Officer.

Tessa’s role is to raise funds for the volunteer project ‘Fit for Fun’, which aims to provide sports and social activities for disabled and elderly people in the Andover area.  Disabled people, in particular, are often excluded from mainstream sports and social activities owing to lack of access and affordable transport.

The ‘Fit for Fun’ project is currently offering weekly sessions of Circuit Training & Relaxation (which take place in Enham Alamein) and Table Tennis & Short Mat Bowls, which take place at The Depot in Charlton.

The project will also cater for social activities and days out and will support recreational activities such as craft and sewing groups.  Volunteers are needed for all these activities and anyone who might be able to help should contact Tessa at work on her direct line, 01264 345836.
