Since 1992, Andover Women in Business – affectionately known as AWIB – has provided a friendly, informal and supportive group; bringing together both employed and self-employed women from all walks of life in and around Andover and beyond.
Members come from a wide range of business types and include solicitors, retailers, therapists, accountants, members of the motor trade, jewellers, artists, performers, trainers, health care professionals, photographers, crafters, publishers and teachers.
Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month. The normal format is dinner followed by a speaker. Other social events, networking and workshops are organised appropriate to the members’ needs.
“When I first started out in business I tried a few business clubs out for size. AWIB is the only one I still do. Why? It is a collective of bright, intelligent, enthusiastic, hardworking and independent women who proactively help each other if and where we can. It’s structured but flexible and importantly great fun. We often do business with each other but there is no pressure to do business or attend every month. Best local business group by far.”
Jane Berntsen, Andover Buffets Ltd
“AWIB is such a supportive group for like-minded business women in the community. Our President is wonderful at championing each and every member’s cause and business. If you are looking to grow your business and meet other women in business, then Andover Women in Business is the group for you!”
Emma Wilders-Pratt, Trethowans LLP
“ AWIB has given me confidence to network in safe friendly, trusting environment – I have met many people and created friendships as well as making use of local services I might not have known about before”.
